Kebbi IDPs Commends Atiku Bagudu
…For his immeasurable magnanimity towards them
A group of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) based in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital have expressed their profound gratitude to Governor Atiku Bagudu for what they described as his policy of ceaseless compassion towards them.
The group, whose Secretary Malam Umaru Waliyi spoke for, told newsmen that at very close intervals, the Kebbi state government under the leadership of Senator Bagudu had intervened in their plight by distributing not just critically needed relief items, but that the Governor has personally seen to it that at special occasions like Sallah celebrations, both cash and food items including rams and cows are given to them in order to give them a sense of belonging.
Malam Umaru Waliyi noted that in the last four years, the Governor has personally visited them from time to time and on each occasion, he not only showered them with gifts but has also demonstrated deep and sincere sympathy and had always assured them of his readiness to assist them by supporting them as they struggle to shake off the unfortunate situation they had to contend with and which was brought about by the way and manner they had to evacuate themselves and their families from the North East where the Boko Haram insurgency displaced them.
He remarked that as usual with the Governor, the just concluded Eid celebration that just ended witnessed another round of compassion showed to them as a number of bulls and cash gifts were sent to them which they used to enjoy the period with their families. Each household numbering over one hundred spread at Bayan Kara and Bayan Mobil parts of Gesse III of the Metropolis, Malam Waliyi said, benefited from the largesse of the Kebbi state government.
Malam Waliyi disclosed that until the Kebbi state government started to intervene in their affairs, the IDPs hardly get a piece of meat or the resources to purchase essential items to enjoy the Eid festivities. According to him, since the Atiku Bagudu administration began showing empathy towards them a couple of years ago, no celebration passes without them being made to feel important and a part of the larger society.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to reward the Governor for his care and concern to them.
